It's lovely to see that so many of you out there have responded well to my new book How To Decorate... I've loved every minute of putting it together and seeing it come to life... One of the most satisying things about the process of 'book-ing' is seeing how things come together over time - and sometimes unearthing a talent or two along the way... I didn't realise at the outset of our collaboration that Penguin/Lantern art director - Emily O'Neill was such a brilliant, brilliant illustrator! The brief for the design of the book was very much about making it user friendly - about ensuring that it straddled the line between being inspirational - but also completely usable... Something that budding decorators could return to time and time again... It made sense to infuse some hand lettering into the book - to evoke this hands on feeling. More difficult was deciding what to do with the cover - how could we choose just one photograph to represent decorating in it's intirety... We decided that what was we needed was to create a cover fusion of either photographs, graphics or illustrations and as Emily began to experiment, we were completely blown away by her ability to draw! And paint! Quickly, we knew that illustrations were the key to our cover - and from there - this is what she created... I completely love this cover - its fresh, it's different and it encapsulates all that decorating is about - the process of experimenting, of playing and getting down and dirty with the subject. Thank you so much to Emily for her gorgeous illustrations that appear throughout the book - along with the design of the rest of the book. It really brings my words, and Prue's beautiful photographs to life.... I hope you love them as much as we do...

Have a lovely evening,

I love it too! Which is amazing after spending so much time with it! Books take a long time to evolve and so I've been living with this baby for a while - and yet, I'm still finding things to love about it!.x
I bought it yesterday and I'm finding it difficult to put it down. Lots of invaluable info and great tips.
The design is lovely and Prue's pictures are stunning, as always.
A very inspiring book for anyone who wants to create a beautiful home.
